Happy Birthday Sylvia

Today is Bob's mothers birthday (well Mike and Diane as well ). If she were alive, she would be 90 today.
Happy Birthday mom. We miss you and love you and just want you to know (but you already do ) that in a few weeks, the family will be getting together to celebrate Christmas Eve. It is that Murley tradition that we carry on because as you always said "it's the one time of the year, the whole family makes it a point to get together". We will be thinking of you then and again "happy birthday".
Love, jan

My Bed

Wow, it's been a long, long time since I've been here. Almost ashamed to start it up again. But I'll give it another try. You know the saying: If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. So this is try #2 :)
Just got back from a walk outside and wow, what a change in the weather. Too early for the white stuff (thank goodness) but leaves on trees are starting to change and the days and evenings are cooler. Great weather for sleeping.
Sleeping....every night I have a bed to go to. Every night I don't have to worry about being safe from the elements and strangers.
I am very lucky for what I have,my bed, which gives me comfort. My pillow that lies on my bed which sometimes I can cry tears into and no one will ever know I've been crying. My bed, my pillow, it may sound crazy but this is one thing I am thankful for. I am lucky for what I have and i thank God for it all I do have every day.

and the memories that go with it. Today is my dads birthday. He would of been 91 years old today.
I remember:
dad wearing a top hat Easter morning
dad at my side in the hospital
dad pushing me on the swing that he hung in the backyard on the clotheline post
dad being dressed up on Halloween
looking at pictures of my dad in his army uniform (he was pretty handsome)
dad meeting Bob for the first time
dad walking me into the chapel the day I got married
dad not getting mad when he taught me to mash potatoes but I forgot to cook them first (and they went flying all over the kitchen)
dad helping me pick up the watermelon pieces that fell all over the backyard when i was helping him get the groceries out of the car
dad loving being an usher at church

I REMEMBER HAVING THE BEST DAD EVER. Thank you dad for everything you did for me!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!
Love, Janice

I saw pictures on tv this morning from the Tsunami. I looked at that and then thought about how I've been complaining about our snow. Another reality check.Anyway, here are some of my thoughts about what has happened

T-terrifying
S-scary
U-unplanned
N-never think it could happen to you
A - Amen, let us pray for the people in Japan
M- many who lives were taken by this disaster
I-infants and children....how do you explain a natural disaster like this to them?

Disciple or Spectator

How strong will I be today, in my faith and in all that I do? Will I turn my cheek to the one who makes fun of me or another? Will I stand up for what I know is right or will i coward? Today I know the Lord will guide me in all that I do, to do my best, to give me the right words to say, to be at my side.
On this first Friday in Lent, may I walk proudly with the Lord as an example to others, as a reminder to myself that I am a disciple, not a spectator.
